Today, alternative fuels are a popular option for commercial vehicles like buses. Propane powers more than ten million vehicles in more than thirty-eight countries. The reasons are evident: propane provides a non-petroleum fuel that is safe, clean, low in cost, and reliable. Also, over 90% of all United States propane is produced domestically, reducing our dependence on foreign fuel. Many propane vehicle users have reported two to three years longer service life, and less required maintenance. In the future, there will likely be excessive tax credits for the conversion costs, as well as tax credits on the cost of fuel. These advantages will help offset the initial costs of going green.
