We recently had the pleasure of introducing both the Boulder Valley School District and the West Grand School District to the first two Blue Bird Electric school buses in Colorado. They were exciting events both for the districts and for us here at Colorado/West Equipment, Inc. What does this have to do with ALT Fuels Colorado? Both School Districts were able to purchase their new buses with the help of the Alternative Fuels Colorado Program. In addition to receiving funding from the program, West Grand School District was able to secure contributions from two electric utility companies, Mountain Parks Electric and Tri-State Generation and Transmission, to cover the cost of the bus and the necessary charging infrastructure. For those interested in applying for the grant, the time has arrived.
This past week marked the reopening announcement for the ALT Fuels Colorado program. The penalty money from the VW Emissions Scandal is allocated to projects to reduce NOx from heavy duty diesel sources across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. However, in Colorado funds have been allocated differently, toward zero emission vehicles specifically, Electric school buses. Through our partnership with Blue Bird , we were the first to offer Certified Electric School buses here in Colorado.
