October 7, 2020by cowest

The Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) program is now making more rebate funding available for school bus replacement.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it was announced that over $10 million in Diesel Emission Reduction Rebates is available to public and private fleet owners.  The rebates can be applied to the replacement of older diesel school buses with new school buses that meet the EPA’s cleanest emission standards. The agency will award selected applicants $20,000 to $65,000 per bus for scrapping and replacement depending on the fuel type of the replacement bus.

School districts with fleets with up to 100 school buses may submit one application listing up to 10 buses for scrappage and replacement, and fleets with more than 100 school buses may submit up to two applications, listing 10 buses each.

The deadline to submit applications is October 30, 2020 at 4:00 EDT.
