As August quickly approaches, many school districts prepare to kick off the school year, some as early as Monday August 10th. Teachers are busy gathering items to ready the classrooms and welcome their students for the next year. Parents are helping their children pick out fresh new school supplies, backpacks, and clothes for the first day. A new school year brings so many possibilities and parents want to cross everything off the list that can help their child get off on the right foot. This brings us to our second part of our safety series.
There is one item that is missing on this checklist of “to do’s”: school bus safety. Whether you will be driving your child/children to school, taking them to the bus stop, or maybe you have a teen driver, it is imperative that you take the time to review school bus safety. Every year accidents happen that could be avoided by brushing up on traffic laws as well as school safety reminders. The State of Colorado has put together a Training Outline for School Bus Safety. (The tips included are great reminders for other states as well.) Please visit the following links below to read up on these safety reminders and traffic laws prior to the start of the upcoming school year. Then add this to your checklist for future years and share with friends as well.
