Colorado Electric School Bus Grant- Opening Soon

Another Colorado Electric School Bus Grant opportunity is expected to open tomorrow, March 29,2023.  The application will be open through June 20, 2023, for the purchase of Electric school buses.  This program is state funded and intended to be complementary to federal funding, such as the EPA Clean School Bus Program.  Please see the outline of information below or visit https://cdphe.colorado.gov/electric-school-buses for more information.

Electrifying School Bus Grant Program

Funding Type: Grant
Agency: Colorado Department of Public Health
Purpose: Fund the adoption of electric school buses and infrastructure.
Program Status: Under development; anticipated to open March 29, 2023

Eligible Entities: Under development, awaiting agency intelligence.
Eligible Vehicles or Station Types: Any vehicle used in the routine transport of students (e.g.,
vans, SUVs, etc.)
Eligible Fuels: Battery Electric
Eligible GVWR: Between 0 lbs. and 80,000 lbs.
Eligible Geographic Location: Colorado

Maximum Solicitation Funding: Under development; the previous solicitation had
$65,000,000.
Maximum Vehicle Funding: Up to $375,000 for Type C-D school bus.
Maximum Infrastructure Funding: Up to $72,000 for a dual port 100kW + charger
Maximum Applicant Funding: No maximum established.
Maximum Project Funding: No maximum established.
Stackability: Program is stackable with Federal funding. State funding is intended to be
complementary to the EPA Clean School Bus program and not competitive.

Scrappage Requirement: Grantee will be required to retire or convert a 2010 or older diesel or
gas-powered school bus.

operate similar routes and mileage as the old bus for a minimum of five years.
Public Access Requirement: Under development
Reporting Requirement: Under development. Periodic reporting will be required.
