Let’s Talk Alternative Fuel Options–Blue Bird Vision Gasoline

March 12, 2020by cowest

When choosing a bus there are many factors to consider, such as safety, reliability, and passenger capacity to name a few. What about alternative fuel options? In this ever-changing world it is becoming increasingly important to think about the impact the many vehicles on the road have on our environment, making it crucial to explore alternative fuels. In April we mark the celebration of Earth Day. As Earth Day approaches, we will focus this next series on the many alternative fuel school buses we offer, beginning with Gasoline.

Safe For Our Environment
Gasoline as an alternative fuel may not seem the obvious choice with nearly 80% of all vehicles in North America running on gasoline. Our Vision Gasoline buses are built to add savings from the start as they do not require large amounts of additional parts to run clean and produce only 0.08 NOx (nitrogen oxide) of emissions, making it safer for the environment. Our Blue Bird’s modern gasoline-powered school buses are both safe (as we discussed in our last series) and reliable, but also come with low upfront cost options. Without the need for additional equipment to run cleanly, maintenance costs are lower over time.

Safe For Our Children
Ensuring the safety of children on a school bus is always our priority. Gasoline safety is no exception; our in-tank fuel pump is electronically controlled to deliver only the amount of fuel required by the engine; no fuel is returned from the engine to the fuel storage tank. The fuel lines are isolated from static electricity and made from a low vapor permeable material to comply with Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards. Our gasoline fuel system has been tested to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for fuel system integrity, as with all liquid fueled Blue Bird Buses.

Additional Reasons To Choose Blue Bird Gasoline:

  • Reliable Engine- Ford has produced over 1.8 million 6.8L V10 engines, a bold testament to the engine’s proven performance and reliability, year after year. Paired with the Ford 6R140 transmission and Roush Clean Tech fuel system, it is certified to the low NOx level of 0.08 g/bhp-hr.
  • Low Acquisition Cost- The Blue Bird Gasoline Vision bus has the lowest up-front cost in the Blue Bird Type C Vision lineup of products, making this bus an affordable choice for your fleet.
  • Cold Weather Startup- Blue Bird’s Gasoline Vision has made an impressive cold weather startup, reaching temperatures as low as -20 (degree) Fahrenheit – no need for pre-heating the engine.
  • More Mechanics- It is easier to find mechanics that have been trained to work on gasoline engines, making this bus easy to implement into your fleet.
  • Fuel Availability- Gasoline is the most readily available fuel type in the US and Canada with fueling stations being plentiful in most areas.
  • Simple, Low-Cost Maintenance; smooth, quiet engine operation, no costly aftertreatment, and easily accessible and affordable parts simplify the maintenance process of your fleet and save you time and money.

At Colorado/West Equipment, Inc. and Nebraska/Central Equipment, Inc. we have many Blue Bird Gasoline options from Vision, Micro Bird MB-11 and Micro Bird T-Series to meet your passenger needs.
